Highlights
- Working public water transport
- Short, inexpensive crossing
- Connects the heritage quarter with the souks
Wooden abras have carried passengers across Dubai Creek for generations, and they still run as a working public service operated by the RTA. The short crossing between the Bur Dubai and Deira stations costs a few dirhams in cash and is one of the best-value experiences in the city.
For a longer look at the creek you can charter a whole abra for a round trip.
Good to know
- Carry small cash for the crossing fare.
- Boats leave when full; you rarely wait long.
