Jumeirah
Beaches, villas and a slower pace on the coast
Low-rise beach neighbourhoods along the coast, from Kite Beach and La Mer to Madinat Jumeirah.
Jumeirah is the long coastal strip running south-west from the edge of the old city towards Umm Suqeim. It is lower-rise and calmer than the rest of central Dubai, with public beaches, villa streets, independent cafés and some of the city’s best-known resorts.
Why stay here
Choose Jumeirah for a beach stay that still feels connected to the city. Kite Beach and La Mer have long promenades with places to eat, and Souk Madinat Jumeirah has waterways, shops and restaurants. The sail-shaped Burj Al Arab is the area’s landmark.
What to know
No Metro line runs along the coast here, so taxis and ride-hailing are the norm. Burj Al Arab closed in April 2026 for an 18-month refurbishment, with reopening expected in late 2027; it is still a striking sight from Jumeirah Public Beach and Umm Suqeim.
